This is the essay I was going to write yesterday, but the Typeshare update distracted me from writ…oh my, the irony.

Shiny Object Syndrome…S.O.S. How very appropriate, because HELP!

FUN FACT: Despite what many people think, SOS doesn’t stand for Save Our Souls, Save Our Ship or save our anything else. It stands for…well, nothing. It’s a backronym (a reverse acronym: an expression that has been formed from the letters of an existing word or name).

Back to Shiny Objects

I’m a self-admitted app addict. I’ve probably spent more timer re-creating todos in new apps than I have actually completing the todos. I love being an early adopter, trying out betas, and knowing about all the apps.

No matter how hard I try to keep my eyes on the prize, I often feel the tug of those new-kid-on-the-block apps.

Product Hunt, AppSumo, StackSocial…Oh My!

So many apps, and so little time. Lifetime deals galore! I’ve purchased so many lifetime deals for apps and I’d say that I use about 10% of them.

It’s Not Just Apps, Though

I do love my apps, but hobbies in general can sometimes serve as shiny objects. I’ll go all in with something and out of nowhere…WHAM! Something more appealing takes hold, despite my best intentions.

The fact that I’m actually writing this essay is quite nice, because I could easily drop this whole daily writing thing in favour of, well, just about anything. For now, though, here we are…shining on!
